Lightning strike destroys workshop on Hayling Island

A LIGHTNING strike has caused a fire to rip through a workshop in a residential street in Hayling Island.

Fire crews from stations on the island and Havant were mobilised at 8.15am this morning to Wheatlands Avenue.

A spokesman from Hampshire Fire And Rescue Service said: ‘There was a fire involving a workshop at the rear of a property, and it was extinguished using a hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus.
