Pompey have accepted their planned trip to Wembley has to be put firmly on the backburner amid the coronavirus crisis.

But the desire remains for the Leasing.com Trophy final to be played in front of a crowd rather than behind closed doors.

Blues chief executive Mark Catlin explained they are positions echoed by all the main players involved in the clash with Salford City.

Kenny Jackett’s men were due to play the final on April 5 at the home of the football in the lower-league showpiece event.

The match has been postponed, however, with the hope it can be played at a new date moving forward once the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic resides.

That was a clear indication the desire is for supporters to be involved in the occasion whenever the game is played

Catlin stated all the parties involved appear to be on the same page over the way forward for the clash.
