With a perfect location of being both right on the coast and at the edge of the South Downs National Park, Portsmouth and its surrounding towns have a whole host of fantastic walks to enjoy this spring.
Here are just some of our favourites:
17. Wickham Water Meadow and the Meon Valley Trail
The wonderful Wickham Water Meadow can be found a stone's throw away from the centre of the historic town square and is the perfect setting for a spring picnic as you sit next to the river which passes over the area like tiny rapids. You can then go up a few steps and you will be on the wonderful Meon Valley Trail along the old abandoned railway track. The Meon Valley Trail is also accessible if you park in the main carpark off Station Road. Photo: Contributed
18. Stansted Park
Whether you are looking for a short stroll or a longer woodland walk then Stansted Park as it all. The main grounds near to the house and the garden centre have lots of little areas to explore - perfect for little legs. But if you fancy a longer walk then the park has a number of paths which lead straight into the South Downs National Park woodland which are just stunning.Picture by Charlie Hellewell Photo: Charlie Hellewell
